Old School DM[]

LA Harbor is split into north and south, a dichotomous and not very similar pair of places.

Industrialism hit northern LA Harbor hard, coating the warehouses and small shops with a layer of soot-colored film. During the summer, the smell of the heavily polluted ocean repels, rather than beckons, the average tourist.

It is in the fall months, as the weather cools slightly and the shipping operations slow, that tourists are seen in small groups, the shops they visit displaying the best and the brightest of what they have to offer. Quiet and sleepy, LA Harbor sees little in the way of outright danger, or any form of true excitement.

South LA Harbor, however, is not a place of peace and calm - it is slice of heaven for the lawless, uncaring, cruel, inhumane, and, most importantly, the Dark. It is a truly industrial city, packed wall to wall with factories, warehouses, and offices of shipping-related companies. Some companies, although they would never admit it in a press release, are involved with the smuggling of everything imaginable, including people (mostly Dark or undocumented).

Many warehouse-owning corporations have privately-owned forces of security guards for each warehouse, guards who are heavily armed and encouraged to shoot at anything they consider a risk. Or anything that moves, if they're bored.

The citizenry consists mostly of squatters, small Dark gangs, and corporations, none of whom seem to understand the concept of 'quality of life.' The pollution index within South LA Harbor is constantly at dangerous levels, with warnings put out urging workers and citizens to wear any kind of air-filtration system they own.
